Ron Chacey brings to our Board of County Commissioners:
- Fiscal responsibility and planning with town and county
- Accomplishment as a small business owner with strong work ethic
- Commitment to people’s needs and ethical government
Ron Chacey envisions Archuleta County as a community
with a government that is efficient and effective and manages its
finances appropriately; where roads and other services are maintained
equitably, growth and the economy are sustainable, and all segments
of the community work together cooperatively; and where the quality
of life is preserved.
Please support Ron Chacey for County Commissioner!
This race is critical for the future of our county. Forecasted rapid
growth combined with the county’s current financial meltdown
and broader economic concerns place our community in a perilous
position. As county residents endure fewer services, local businesses
suffer slowdowns, and county departments continue to unravel, there
is tremendous pressure to facilitate any development at almost any
cost.
We need strong, progressive leadership capable of thinking through
and beyond the current state of affairs in order to provide our
community with a sustainable future.
Ron has volunteered for the past decade, first in his role as
director of the Southwest Land Alliance and then on the Archuleta
County Planning Commission for which he currently serves as Vice-Chair.
Ron’s approach is intelligent, ethical, hard working and fair.
He is a team player and a strong advocate of transparency and public
process. Foremost, however, Ron has a compelling vision for the
future of this community. He has articulated this vision repeatedly
in his various roles in the Southwest Land Alliance, Archuleta County
Planning Commission, Archuleta County Citizens’ Forum, Archuleta
County Vision Committee, Archuleta County Community Plan Steering
Committee, Archuleta County Citizens’ Task Force, and the
Pagosa Springs Citizens’ Advisory Committee.
Ron’s vision is one of sustainable growth in which developers,
businesses and citizens work cooperatively toward a desirable future.
Ron knows that sustainable growth is essential for the well being
of our community and he seeks to promote economic and real-estate
development projects that demonstrate a commitment to long-term
stewardship of benefit to the community. This is not only possible,
but it is already happening in communities around the nation.
We can build a better community by working together.
In 2008, Archuleta County voters will effectively choose a future.
Will it be one in which our children walk safely to neighborhood
schools and parks, or will it be one of continued strip development
and traffic congestion? Will we still have open space, wildlife
habitat, clean air and clean water, or will we allow unmitigated
sprawl and its many consequences to diminish our quality of life?
Will we maintain the integrity of this community through strength,
frugality and perseverance, or will we allow ourselves to be sold
short in a moment of crisis?
Ron’s forward-looking leadership, collaboration and careful
financial management will guide our community through this time
of hardship and into a better future.Ron has the leadership experience
and the commitment to work effectively and ethically!
